The Manor Rooms Wedding - Alice and Allen
Alice & Allen’s wedding at The Manor Rooms in South Cave
In July we had the absolute joy of photographing Alice and Allen’s wedding day at The Manor Rooms in South Cave, a celebration of love and family that really resonated with us. Through video calls and a pre-wedding shoot a few weeks earlier that ended in the pub, we arrived at this day feeling like old friends with Alice, Allen and also some of their family, this is exactly how we like it and this connection became the foundation of a day which we threw ourselves into with everyone and resulted in a gallery of photographs packed full of life.
East Yorkshire wedding venue blending rustic vibes with modern touches
The Manor Rooms is an exclusive wedding venue on Drewton’s Estate near Hull, blending modern touches with rustic vibes. Overlooking the Drewton Estate in the beautiful landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, The Manor Rooms really does boast the most incredible backdrop for a wedding day. Our day started by popping over to Kettlethorpe Cottage to meet up with Alice and her bridal party, this on site farm cottage is such a charming space full of character and staying here onsite made the morning stress free for Alice. Also been on site this gave us the option to pop over to The Manor Rooms to catch up with Allen when he arrived at the venue while also documenting the details as My Pretties UK were finishing setting up.
Outdoor wedding ceremony with views of the Yorkshire Wolds
Alice and Allen booked the most beautiful summers day and were able to have their ceremony outside in the open air which fit perfectly with the overall laid back and heartfelt feel of the day. Sharing personal vows surrounded by family and friends with the Yorkshire Wolds as a backdrop was such a beautiful moment for everyone, knowing the couple it was also no surprise to see fun elements thrown in too, our highlight was the choice of entrance music for Alice as she walked down the aisle to the Jurassic Park theme tune! The playful touches continued with Alice and Allen opting for bubbles instead of confetti which was ace! We had discussed this before the day itself and decided to bring along a couple of bubble guns of our own to help fill the air with as many bubbles as possible, we gave these to a couple of the children and they did an amazing job creating the most magical moment full of energy! We live for these moments and it is beautiful to be able to look back at these photographs and the pure joy within them!
Keeping it chilled, relaxed wedding photography full of fun
After the ceremony and with guests busy enjoying a drink and some garden games we took the opportunity to take Alice and Allen for some portraits around the varied landscape that surrounds The Manor Rooms. It was quite a hot day so to preserve energy for the dance floor later we pulled our car round and took on the roll of taxi, taking the couple down the farm track to the woodland at the top of the hill. Enjoying a short time in the woods and stopping on the way back via the open fields we really were spoilt for choice of places to explore.
Our approach to portraits on a wedding is all about having a relaxed environment that allows you to be you, keeping things authentic, encouraging genuine connection and laughter! The result of this is a set of images for Alice and Allen that are full of life and a true representation of who they are as a couple.
A focus on having fun and sharing time together
The energy throughout this wedding was so uplifting with a real focus on people coming together to have a great time, lawn games were a brilliant touch that got everyone of all ages involved and created candid moments that are absolute gold. There really isn’t anything like the anticipation of a giant Jenga tower and waiting for it to topple, setting it up on slightly uneven ground just added an extra layer of difficulty!
You’ll find us on the dancefloor
With the evening celebrations coming around, it was time for Alice and Allen to do their first dance with friends and family watching on. These two jumped into this moment and had the best time with it, with their guests soon joining them on the dance floor to share the moment. Highlights of this evening party were a brilliant effort of a Dirty Dancing lift by Allen and also a rendition of the Bluey theme tune which went down a storm with the kids and also the photographers!
With some guests enjoying a dance, others enjoyed drinks out on the terrace, watching the sun set over the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds.
Fab couple + bubbles + off camera flash (and one dizzy auntie) = epic photos
Before heading home, we grabbed the bubble guns and set up a quick opportunity for a few fun photos, while these moments relied on our experience and confidence with flash it was the moment itself that really made these photos shine. We didn’t capture any behind the scenes of this moment but we must give a big shout out to the Auntie who ran circles around the couple with two bubble guns for the entirety of this little portrait session, 100% commitment right there! Alice and Allen continued dancing with bubbles everywhere and the biggest smiles on their faces, we bloomin’ love these photographs and were so happy to be able to deliver them to the couple.
A wedding that left a mark
Been wedding photographers in Yorkshire gives us opportunities to visit some wonderful venues, The Manor Rooms is right up there for us, a lovely setting with brilliant people! Weddings are all about the people and sharing the day with Alice and Allen’s family and friends was a complete pleasure, jumping in and living the day with them, seeing it just the way Alice and Allen planned it. A day full of moments and memories that we’ll always look back on fondly and a gallery of photographs that Alice and Allen can always look back on with the happiest of memories.
Wishing these two a lifetime of happiness!
Shortly after their wedding, Alice and Allen left us the most amazing review which we are so grateful for:
Perfection
I don't even know where to start about how amazing Chris and Rachel are! I knew instantly after our first chat that I needed them to photograph our wedding. By far the easiest choice in the whole process!! They are so caring and really listened to what we wanted but also gave us ideas we would never even dream of!! The engagement shoot was beautiful, and they are so relaxed they put you at ease (even me who usually hides from photographers). They were amazing with our 1 year old, who was even wanting to dance with Rachel on the dance floor! By the end of the wedding day they didn't feel like hired photographers they felt like family friends! On the day my guests commented on how seamlessly they blended into the wedding with the other guests. They were quite simply - perfect!
